Massage Modalities Offered

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is the most well-known and widely practiced type of therapeutic massage—and for good reason. This type of massage focuses on muscle relaxation, targeting superficial muscles (rather than the connective tissues targeted in deep-tissue massage) and increasing blood circulationA manual therapy that emphasizes long strokes, kneading and friction motions to encourage proper circulation. The technique involves rubbing muscles together in the same direction as the flow of blood to the heart.  Swedish massage is gentler than deep tissue massage and better suited for people interested in relaxation and tension relief.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage centers on realigning the deeper layers of connective and muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the tense areas, either following or going across the fiber’s of the muscles, tendons and fascia. Deep tissue massage is best suited for people who engage in highly physical activities, such as running, or those who have an injury or chronic pain.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is manual manipulation of the muscles geared specifically toward helping people who have physically demanding lifestyles and/or hobbies. This kind of therapeutic massage considers the impact of certain activities on specific joints, muscle groups, tendons, ligaments, and soft tissue groups.  Sports massage caters to athletic patients of all types, professional, collegiate, and high-school level players – even people who exercise regularly and have an active lifestyle. Sports massage therapy is a more focused deep tissue massage and may focus on a certain area of the body.

Acupressure Massage

Acupressure is a specific massage technique that aims to decrease pain, clear tension in muscles, increase blood circulation and promote deep states of relaxation. Acupressure can be effective to relieve headaches, back ache and help to manage conditions such as fibromyalgia. The acupressure technique also aids healing within soft tissues so that recovery is increased.  Acupressure can be effective to relieve headaches, back ache and help to manage conditions such as fibromyalgia.

Trigger Point Massage Therapy

Trigger pointing is an effective technique which is used to treat trigger points and muscular knots. Trigger pointing helps to decrease pain and relieve muscle tightness. Trigger points are formed in soft tissues. Acute trauma, overuse or repetitive microtrauma can lead to the development of stress on muscle fibers. This can lead to muscular knots, known as trigger points. Trigger pointing is the most effective treatment to inactive trigger points and it prompts relief of symptoms.
This is for Clients who are in chronic pain.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping is a massage technique in which local suction is created on the skin using plastic cups. Hand cups can be used on any region of the body. Cupping increases blood circulation and is effective to release tight muscles, fascia and reduce high tone. People get cupping therapy for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.
